In Eden all vegetation grows from the plantation except for two trees that are potted. These are the 'Arbor Vitae', and the 'Arbor Scientia', which is shown above. We know this, thankfully, as the Lord organizes his garden with label markers(see the fan shaped object in the lower left).
Fulfilling the role of the tempter is the figure near center, whom has become a serpent through bondage. His arms and position are restrained by a trellis or stockade that signifies Satan's maroonment on Earth and provides the narrative context for his motivation as the adversary.
